The much-anticipated Season 2 of the adult animated musical series Hazbin Hotel debuts on Prime Video this week, and fan speculation has been intense.
The first season introduces a diverse group of personalities residing in the afterlife, sets them at odds accompanied by songs about their clashes, and establishes heated competitions and emotional bonds that drive audience devotion.
The community's expectations for the new season differ greatly, but certain themes recur frequently: Will Angel Dust break free from Valentino? Will we find out more about the binding agreement affecting the enigmatic Alastor? Will [favorite character] and [other character] finally get together?
"Naturally, I don't produce the show with audience demands as the main goal," the showrunner commented earlier this year. "But I believe that me being a devotee of the series implies there's a lot of it just naturally. I also want to see these things, and I hope some of these things to occur, and clearly some of these things are meant to happen in the show!"
The creator says her big-picture plan is for a five-season run of Hazbin Hotel. Future installments have received approval by the production companies, which finance the series.
That might mean viewers have to be patient for some of the major resolutions — but they may be surprised at how quickly the new season progresses, and how much of what they're waiting for happens this season.
"I feel like people are going to be highly satisfied," she adds. "We get some firsts. I think we get some incredible reveals, some really cool backstories, and even just simple things, [like] I hope this character gets a song. […] Audiences will experience additional musical numbers from the characters we didn't get to hear before."
The creator is well-informed of the guesses and hopes about the upcoming season — particularly in the form of audience prediction charts.
"I've come across a couple people make a prediction grid about season 2," she mentions. "Naturally I won't share it, but I've already completed some of them, and nearly every one of them have almost a bingo. I was like, Oh, if you put this [event] in this spot, it would be a bingo. So that leads me to believe we do a lot [of what fans are waiting for in this season], because I realized, Oh, there's multiple potential bingos on this card. So that brings me joy."
Hazbin Hotel season 2 premieres on Prime Video on October 29.
