A extended journey through the Land Down Under is being halted days after the death of an elderly woman who was abandoned by the ship on a remote tropical isle.

The elderly woman had been walking on the remote island with other travelers from the Coral Adventurer, but separated from the party for a break. The vessel left without her and went back several hours later after the personnel discovered the lady was missing.

A major hunt discovered her body the following day.

Investigative bodies are looking into the tragedy, together with investigators and the state coroner.

The CEO of the cruise operator stated that travelers and staff on the ship were told that the rest of the voyage had been terminated due to the "sad loss and earlier technical problems".

In a statement, he added that guests would be given a complete reimbursement, and said the organization was working "to arrange the return journeys of the travelers via chartered flights".

Authorities also released an latest statement, and said they had "issued a directive to the Captain" preventing any further travelers from entering the liner.

The spokesperson said that they would visit the vessel in the Australian city upon its arrival.

The offspring of the elderly passenger said that her family was "surprised and grieved that the liner left the island after an scheduled tour without my mum".

Through her comments, she described her parent as an "energetic 80-year-old" who was a member of a bushwalking group.

"From the little details we have been provided, it looks that there was a breakdown of responsibility and basic judgment," she mentioned.

She added that she wished the investigation would be able to pinpoint what "the company should have undertaken that might have saved Mum's existence".

"According to reports from the police that it was a very hot period, and mother took sick on the uphill trek," she stated.

"They requested her to head down, without accompaniment. Then the boat sailed away, reportedly without performing a headcount.

"At some stage in that process, or not long after, mum succumbed, without company."

Organization Response

Via official communication, the Chief Executive verified that the company was "working closely with officials to assist their investigation".

He stated that the organization was "extremely apologetic that this has occurred" and had provided its complete assistance to the relatives.

The ship serves up to one hundred twenty passengers with nearly fifty personnel, according to corporate information. It was purpose-built to reach distant regions of the Australian coast and is equipped with "tenders" - minor craft used to take individuals on land visits.
